Your Opportunity

Dillon’s Transportation and Facilities technical group is looking for an experienced Mechanical or Building Science Engineer with an aptitude for BIM to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

 

  • Prepare calculations for mechanical building systems such as sizing ducting, piping, static equipment, rotating equipment, and specialized mechanical equipment and components.
  • Develop layout plans and detailed design drawings of mechanical building systems such as HVAC, sanitary drainage, storm drainage, domestic water distribution, specialized plumbing and piping systems.  
  • Prepare drawings, specifications, and reports necessary to deliver a project.
  • Develop project-specific mechanical details and equipment schedules.
  • Develop mechanical-specific Revit assets to support Revit-based mechanical project delivery methodologies.
  • Design Code-compliant building systems that meet client, owner, municipal, and provincial requirements that meet the applicable industry standards.
  • Coordinate the design of the mechanical building system with structural, architectural and electrical systems and components.
  • Develop coordination drawing or model packages to mitigate coordination issues during construction.
  • Manage project stakeholder requirements and expectations. 
  • Design mechanical building systems using Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD while adhering to company BIM and CAD standards.
  • Develop clash or coordination reports.
  • Assist in the efficient development of the Revit model.
  • Conduct regular project model audits for model health compared to organizational, project, and regulatory standards and requirements.
  • Develop supplier relationships and actively manage Revit assets to ensure compliance against the mechanical pre-qualified suppliers.
  • Conduct and manage construction administration activities.
  • Review and approval contractor submittals such as equipment shop drawings.

Qualifications

What you will need to succeed

 

  • 5+ years of direct industry experience in the field of mechanical building services.
  • Have 5+ years of direct industry experience in the field of mechanical BIM development.
  • Direct experience in the development, implementation, and management of efficient organizational BIM assets, organization-level and operational-level BIM workflows, and 
  • Degree from an accredited institution in mechanical building services or mechanical engineering.
  • A C.E.T. with equivalent experience and abilities will be considered.

Experience

  • Knowledge and experience working with Autodesk Revit 2017 or newer is required, with exposure to mechanical layouts and systems.
  • Knowledge of all Microsoft Office 365 programs, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of and experience with modern mechanical building systems and applied technologies.
  • Familiar with structural, architectural, and electrical design and model requirements to understand space limitations and mitigate interferences.
  • Experienced with municipal and provincial Codes and Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a project-oriented organization in a deadline driven environment.
  • Drives efficiency, innovation, and relationships to achieve project-based and organizational success..
  • Effective communication skills and comfortable with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to work independently, integrate into the mechanical team, and respectfully drive change.
