Your Opportunity

We are looking for an Environmental Planner with at least 5 years of consulting experience. You will be a member of Dillon’s national Environmental Planning team and will work closely with our in-house teams of engagement specialists, biologists, environmental scientists, land use and policy planners, and the full range of engineering disciplines located in offices across Canada. You will be a key part of our multidisciplinary group serving our diverse range of private and public sector clients.

 

At Dillon, we operate as one team. The successful candidate can be based at any one of our following offices: Calgary, Ottawa, Kitchener, Guelph, Toronto (Downtown or North York), or London.

Responsibilities

As a key team member, you will have the opportunity to:

 

Project Delivery

  • Lead and support projects for private and public sector clients related to impact assessment, environmental permitting and approvals, and environmental compliance monitoring
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams on exciting and challenging projects

Business Development

  • Build client relationships through the identification of market opportunities, client communications, preparation of proposals, and business development activities

Training & Corporate Initiatives

  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees

Learning & Development 

  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
  • Contribute to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring

Qualifications

  • A university degree or post-undergraduate college diploma in planning, environmental studies, environmental science, biology, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience, preferably in the consulting industry

Experience

Ideally, your experience can demonstrate the following:

  • Successful project delivery as a Project Manager 
  • Thorough understanding of impact assessment methods and practical experience conducting environmental assessments, including cumulative effects assessments, for provincially (e.g., Ontario Energy Board [OEB], Alberta Energy Regulator [AER]) and federally-regulated projects (e.g., Canada Energy Regulator [CER], Impact Assessment Agency of Canada)
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant municipal, provincial and federal environmental legislation, regulations, policies, guidelines, and regulatory permitting and approval requirements
  • Experience in the design and delivery of stakeholder and Indigenous community engagement programs
  • Environmental management during construction, including developing environmental management and mitigation plans, on-site monitoring and documentation 
  • Experience in business development activities including client development and responding to RFPs
  • Experience with socio-economic, health, and GBA+ impact assessments is considered an asset
