Structural Technologist Student

Your opportunity 

Are you a future CET with a passion for structural inspection and design? Dillon’s structural group is looking for a Civil Engineering Technologist Student (Structural) to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals for a six (6) month (minimum) work term, commencing May 2025. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while gaining valuable exposure and experience in the consulting engineering industry.

At Dillon, we operate as one team nationally; however, this position is available at Dillon’s Winnipeg, Manitoba office. 

What Your Day Will Look Like

Technical Work

• Coordination and completion of field assessments, structural inspections, and information gathering
• Application of 2D and 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD and other specialty programs to produce conceptual through to detailed design drawings
• Assistance with contract administration tasks including construction observation, shop drawing review, contractor submittal review, progress payment preparation, and responding to requests for information 
• Assistance to project managers and engineers with structural and multidisciplinary projects 
• Collaboration with multidisciplinary team members
• Business travel within Manitoba or to other Dillon offices upon request

Learning and Development

• Contributions to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees
• A commitment to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development

Education

• Currently enrolled in a Diploma program from an accredited Architectural or Engineering Technologist Program, or equivalent.

• Strong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills
• Highly organized and detail oriented
• Proficient use of current AutoCAD and/or Revit software is considered an asset
• Knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial/industry engineering standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements is considered an asset
• Understanding of the range of project design and implementation activities including development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering, and contract administration is considered an asset
