Dillon’s Contaminant Assessment & Management discipline is looking for an Intermediate Environmental Professional to join our multidisciplinary team. You will have the opportunity to enhance Dillon’s Contaminant Assessment Management and Remediation Programs in British Columbia which will include delivering existing work, engaging new clients, and building a dynamic team to work collaboratively with Dillon’s existing Geoscience team across the country.

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

Project Management and Technical Activities 

  • Coordinate and manage contaminated sites projects in British Columbia. Projects may include Phase I, II & III ESAs, hydrogeological investigations, soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, tissue and/or soil vapour sampling programs, and contaminated site remediation projects. Additional management responsibilities may apply for projects involving hazardous materials assessments, hazardous waste site audits, risk assessments, landfill management and industrial air quality.
  • Prepare and review written reports, compile and review supporting documentation including data analysis and interpretation, borehole logs, test pit logs, GIS/CAD, spreadsheet calculations, conceptual site models, cross-sections and figures
  • Comply with supervisor and applicable health and safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Prepare and manage health and safety plans for field projects, prepare project contracts and agreements, and complete sub-contractor selection.
  • Coordinate, manage and build business relationships with clients, regulators, service providers (e.g., laboratories, sub-contractor) and third-party stakeholders.

Business Development 

  • Lead the development and enhancement of relationships with existing clients
  • Lead the identification and development of new business opportunities with both private and public sector clients
  • Lead and coordinate preparation and submission of proposals and cost estimates.
  • Business travel may be required from time to time, such as to technical and industry events/conferences.
  • Support office-based committees or other corporate initiatives

  • Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring.
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.

Qualifications

What you will need to succeed

  • A degree or technical college certificate/diploma in geology, environmental engineering, environmental sciences, hydrogeology, or another relevant environmental science or engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in environmental consulting
  • Licensed or eligible to apply to practice as Professional Engineer or Professional Geoscientist will be considered an asset
  • Valid driver’s license for travelling to / from project sites

Experience

  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary team
  • Data compilation, interpretation and report writing
  • Experience conducting and reviewing subsurface utility locates and working around heavy equipment, including drill rigs and excavators.
  • Strong background in Phased/Staged environmental site assessments, field monitoring and sampling programs and remediation.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant provincial and federal environmental legislation and policies, including the British Columbia Contaminated Sites Regulation (CSR) and Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment (CCME) Canadian Environmental Quality Guidelines (CEQGs). Experience under both the provincial and federal regulatory frameworks will be considered an asset.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products. Proficiency in GIS, borehole logging software, Surfer, ESdat etc. will be considered an asset.
  • Experience in business development and sales in a client-facing role

Compensation

 

$85,000- $105,000

 

Dillon includes the salary range that we in good faith believe may offer for this position, and is dependent on the successful applicant’s education, experience, and skills, in addition to internal equity and geographic region. Dillon reserves the right to pay outside of the posted range, contingent on factors unrelated to an applicant’s gender or other status protected by provincial and/or federal law.
