Your opportunity  

Dillon’s Land Development Business Unit is looking for an Interim Construction Observer to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals for projects in Lindsay, Peterborough and surrounding areas in Ontario.

You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience. 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and run meetings with Municipal Representatives, Clients, Other Consultants, and Contractors
  • Review and process contractor invoices, change orders, monthly progress certificates, and holdback releases
  • Collect and manage the various testing and inspection requirements for substantial performance, commencement of maintenance periods, and final acceptance by municipalities and approval agencies
  • Provide constructability reviews of drawings prior to tendering and construction
  • Preparing both detailed and high-level construction estimates
  • Assist with the Tendering of Subdivision and Site Plan projects and finalizing various contract documents prior to construction, incl. bid analysis, contract award recommendations, preparing final contracts for execution etc.
  • Resolving construction related issues with contractor and municipal agencies.
  • Provide regular project updates to senior Contract Administration staff and Project Managers

Qualifications

  • Civil Engineering Degree, College or University
  • Ability to lead and manage the work of others
  • Strong Team Player but able to work independently
  • Strong analytical and report Writing Skills 
  • Strong communication Skills, both Written and Verbal
  • Strong knowledge of various software tools and platforms related to Contract Administration
  • Driver’s Licence and access to a vehicle

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years combined experience in inspection and contracts administration
  • Full working knowledge of the municipal construction process and methods
