Your opportunity  

Dillon’s Waste Management discipline is looking for an Interim Field Technician to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals, and fill one of the multiple roles. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience. 

 

At Dillon, we operate as one team. This position is available at our Vancouver office and will require travel throughout Metro Vancouver. This opportunity will require availability for a variety of shifts, including weekdays and weekends.  

 

The pay rate for this position is $28.00/hour and is on an open-ended contract, on an as-needed basis.

Responsibilities

Role includes:

  • Waste Auditor

Field Work 

  • Complete waste audits and waste sorting activities for garbage, recycling and organics
  • Complete visual audits of residential organics, recycling and garbage collection carts and input the information through a virtual option
  • Collect waste materials such as garbage, recycling, and organics
  • Complete audits of residential recycling carts, tagg waste carts and upload data
  • Communicate to all members of the public in a manner that is effective, friendly and professional and ensures exceptional service 
  • Develop strong understanding of the municipal waste collection programs
  • Input and upload data and results. For some weeks, this may include using your personal mobile phone
  • Work various weekday and weekend shifts
  • Attend one virtual training session (paid) 

Qualifications

  • Able to perform physical work in an outdoor environment/waste processing facility
  • Comfortable walking long distances (10 km or more) in all weather conditions and lift up-to 15kg
  • Professional and friendly attitude with the ability to quickly develop rapport with members of the public
  • Steel-toe shoes/boots required
  • Driver's licence
  • Ability to speak Punjabi, Hindi, Cantonese and/or Mandarin is an asset. Please indicate in your application if you are able to speak any of these languages

Experience

  • Strong work ethic and self-starter, able to effectively manage multiple priorities, and adapt to change within a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while exercising judgment and a high level of professionalism
  • Ability to work safely and follow instructions
