FBM, one of Atlantic Canada’s most recognized and award-winning design and planning firms, is seeking a Manager, Proposals & Communications to work a hybrid schedule out of their brand-new office in Halifax, NS.

 

A studio of collaborating architects, interior designers, planners, and various subject matter experts, FBM is responsible for the design of a wide range of built environments. Your Opportunity

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will play a key role in positioning FBM for exciting and complex architectural, interior design, and planning projects through compelling proposal development and strategic communications. You will lead the coordination, writing, and submission of project proposals while supporting brand storytelling through award submissions, social media, and web content. Approximately 80% of this role focuses on managing and writing proposals for new work in close cooperation with various FBM team leads, while 20% supports brand presence through strategic communications and content development.

Collaborating with project teams and leadership, you will ensure timely, high-quality proposal submissions and maintain consistency in messaging across communications materials. You'll also liaise with subconsultants and external partners, helping to present a unified and compelling narrative of FBM’s design and planning expertise.

We are seeking a highly organized and skilled Manager, Proposals & Communications to lead our proposal development efforts and support key marketing and communications initiatives.

Responsibilities

Proposal Management (80%)

  • Manage the end-to-end proposal process together with team leads:
    • Liaise with subconsultants to coordinate participation and gather proposal content materials and other necessary submission criteria
    • Draft, format, and edit proposals using FBM’s branded templates formatted for RFP compliance and which your role will be required to maintain and refine as necessary
    • Coordinate internal reviews and approvals for RFP criteria including tailored material and fees
    • Submit final RFP response package
  • Attend proposal debriefs and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
  • Maintain internal databases of project info, lessons learned, and team CVs
  • Liaise or work directly with Dillon Consulting’s marketing communications and proposal management team
  • Support project closeout processes including narratives and project info sheets

 Marketing & Communications (20%)

  • Maintain and support FBM’s brand through consistent messaging and content
  • Assist in developing and delivering award submissions
  • Maintain website content and project portfolios
  • Contribute to content creation for social media and internal communications

Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field
  • Preferably 5+ years’ experience in a similar role

Experience

  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign; familiarity with Illustrator, Photoshop, and MS Office
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable with external deadlines
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with partners and project leads
  • Experience in architecture, engineering, construction is considered an asset
