Your opportunity  

Dillon’s Landscape Architecture & Urban Design discipline is looking for a Landscape Planner to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects with many project managers, while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience. 

 

We are looking to fill this position in our Downtown Toronto, Hamilton, or Kitchener offices. We offer flexible work hours and hybrid work arrangement options to help balance the competing demands of work and personal life.

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

Technical & Project Coordination

  • Support our Landscape Architecture & Urban Design team on public space projects, urban design, land development 
  • Contribute to a wide range of project assignments through all phases, including master planning, 2D and 3D visualizations, conceptual design, public consultation, detailed design, and construction administration
  • Assist in the production of high quality graphics and presentation materials through innovative workflows to effectively communicate design concepts to clients and stakeholders
  • Support on proposal preparation and report writing
  • Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request

Learning & Development

  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning to stay knowledgeable of industry best practices and advancements in Innovation and Technology 
  • Contribute to Dillon's corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees

Qualifications

What you will need to succeed

  • 1-3 years’ experience utilizing the following computer design software: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D workflows including Rhino, SketchUp and Lumion. Working knowledge of LandFX would be an added value.
  • Extensive knowledge in plant identification and selection considered an asset
  • Graduate of a recognized Landscape Architecture program from an accredited university or college.
  • Membership or candidacy with the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects (OALA) is required.
  • Valid “G” class driver’s license.

Experience

  • AutoCAD proficiency, hand graphics and strong communication skills are essential
  • Collaboration with staff, city/government agencies, and other consultants
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Attention to detail and the ability to balance multiple projects with accuracy and efficiency
  • Project types include public parks and plazas, streetscapes, waterfront development, climate change adaptation, sustainable development, landscape-based master plans, trails development, design competitions, innovative public consultation, and infrastructural renewal.
  • Working knowledge of the planning and municipal approvals process
